About Project

The ARTHEMIS project addresses one of the key challenges in the development of next-generation nuclear systems: the degradation of structural materials under extreme irradiation and high-temperature conditions. The project focuses on understanding the impact of helium accumulation, radiation damage, and corrosion processes on advanced alloys and coatings, and developing strategies to improve their performance and lifetime.

Project Objectives

  • Develop irradiation strategies or creating thick, uniformly damaged layers with controlled helium concentrations.
  • Perform ion-irradiation experiments and characterize the resulting layers using hardness tests and microstructural analysis.
  • Conduct micromechanical testing to determine how helium affects the mechanical performance and embrittlement of candidate steels for advanced nuclear systems.
  • Investigate synergistic effects of radiation and the supercritical water environment on alloy 800H and coated variants.

Collaboration
The ARTHEMIS project brings together leading partners from academia and research institutions, combining expertise in ion beam analysis, materials qualification, nuclear engineering, and micromechanical testing.

Project description: The project focuses on monitoring and adapting to climate change at the city and regional level. The main objective is to obtain data on the state of vegetation due to climate change, in particular in relation to increasing temperatures and drought, identified in vulnerable areas. For this purpose, they use publicly available data from the Sentinel-2 satellite (Copernicus program) and the NDVI index to assess the condition of vegetation.

Project description: The resulting time series will be used to identify crisis areas in selected cities. These data will be used as an argumentative apparatus for the creation of regional development strategies and other conceptual documents that deal with climate change. The so-called “data driven science” approach (and “fact base” argumentation) will create a data base for the creators of these strategies, who will have at their disposal data clearly showing the places where climate change is most pronounced and where regional policy intervention is most desirable.
